Position Overview
dormakaba'">dormakaba is seeking a Senior Embedded Engineer to join our team in a remote role based in Southern California (Los Angeles or San Diego area). In this position, you will lead the firmware architecture, development, and internalization strategy for our Farpointe business’ next-generation access control readers and credential solutions.

What you will do
- dormakaba'">Lead embedded firmware architecture, design, and development for new and existing access control reader platforms
- dormakaba'">Establish and maintain internal firmware ownership, including source control, development processes, and scalable build environments
- dormakaba'">Collaborate with hardware, software, and cross-functional teams to define system requirements and support successful new product introductions (NPI)
- dormakaba'">Ensure firmware solutions align with dormakaba's security standards, regulatory compliance requirements, and product governance processes
- dormakaba'">Coordinate and manage relationships with external firmware engineering partners while driving the transition to in-house development capabilities
What we require
- dormakaba'">Bachelor’s degrees in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
- dormakaba'">5+ years of embedded firmware experience
- dormakaba'">Expert-level proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems, with experience developing firmware in RTOS environments (ThreadX, Zephyr, and similar platforms)
- dormakaba'">Strong knowledge of secure firmware design, cryptographic systems, and the integration of RFID, BLE, OSDP, and related access control technologies
- dormakaba'">Experience with STM32 microcontrollers or similar embedded architectures, including firmware optimization for power efficiency, responsiveness, and reliability
